About Our Firm
McKenna Financial was started in 1969 when our founder, Bob McKenna, wanted to make a shift from the culture of a major Wall St. firm to a business that was more personal, service-oriented, and independent with regard to investment choices. Bob’s son, James, joined McKenna Financial in 2009 after having worked for Fidelity Investments in New York City. Today, the practice is focused on wealth management. Most of our clients are business owners and professionals who are retired or near retirement.
The ideal client for our practice is someone who needs a combination of asset management, financial planning, and risk management. In their golden years, retirement income planning becomes a major focus. Our clients’ financial lives are sufficiently complex that they benefit from the long-term value of fully integrated wealth management advice.
We found we do our best work for business owners and professionals, either retired or within 5 years of retirement, and with investable assets of at least $500,000. They are likely to be living in San Diego, between the ages of 55 – 75.
Since we cannot be experts in all areas, we collaborate with other professionals in the area. This includes the writing of wills, trusts, and other legal documents (we do not practice law), trust and estate tax planning, business retirement plan planning, and Medicare Supplement planning.
